tires

The water's low this Indian summer, and tires that lurked deep below the boat this spring and summer are easy picking, as long as I don't mind getting my feet wet. I had two in mind when I set out, but ended up with six, three from the Saint John and three from the Nashwaak, as they were all just below the water, an easy scoop. There are still many more, some still under several feet of water, in the salmon pools. I'll need help, and maybe a wetsuit, to get them.

hookAs always, my hook was very useful in lifting the tires out of the river's bottom gravel.

boatload of tires Here's what a boatload of tires looked like when I finally came ashore.

My red boat is ready to launch, on a fine summer's day off Riverside Drive,
Fredericton North.
